Bacon Cheddar Salisbury Steak

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, bacon, cheddar, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  2. Shape the meat mixture into 4–5 oval patties.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add bacon fat or butter and sauté onions for 5–6 minutes until soft and golden. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the onions, stir, and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  6. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Let the mixture simmer for 4–5 minutes until thickened into a smooth gravy.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet, spoon the gravy over the top, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish with extra crumbled bacon if desired and serve hot.

Variations :

  • Smoked Cheddar Finish: Place a slice of smoked cheddar on each patty in the final minute for extra richness.
  • Mushroom Gravy: Add sautéed mushrooms to the gravy for an earthy depth.
  • Spicy Twist: Incorporate diced jalapeños into the beef mixture or gravy for a kick.
  • Low-Carb Option: Replace breadcrumbs with crushed pork rinds or almond flour.

Tips :

  • Use freshly shredded cheddar for the best melt and flavor.
  • Do not overmix the beef mixture to keep patties tender.
  • For deeper flavor, add a splash of liquid smoke or a touch of Dijon mustard to the gravy.
  • Let the patties rest briefly before serving to retain their juices.
