Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, bacon, cheddar, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Shape the meat mixture into 4–5 oval patties.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add bacon fat or butter and sauté onions for 5–6 minutes until soft and golden. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle flour over the onions, stir, and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Let the mixture simmer for 4–5 minutes until thickened into a smooth gravy.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spoon the gravy over the top, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Garnish with extra crumbled bacon if desired and serve hot.
Variations :
- Smoked Cheddar Finish: Place a slice of smoked cheddar on each patty in the final minute for extra richness.
- Mushroom Gravy: Add sautéed mushrooms to the gravy for an earthy depth.
- Spicy Twist: Incorporate diced jalapeños into the beef mixture or gravy for a kick.
- Low-Carb Option: Replace breadcrumbs with crushed pork rinds or almond flour.
Tips :
- Use freshly shredded cheddar for the best melt and flavor.
- Do not overmix the beef mixture to keep patties tender.
- For deeper flavor, add a splash of liquid smoke or a touch of Dijon mustard to the gravy.
- Let the patties rest briefly before serving to retain their juices.
