Instructions:
- Bake the Tater Tots:
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread tater tots on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes until crisp and golden. Let cool slightly for easier handling.
- Cook the Beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Drain excess fat and set the mixture aside.
- Form the Cones:
Shape foil into cone molds or use metal cone molds if available. Line each mold with tater tots, gently pressing them into place. Return cones to the oven for 5–7 minutes to help set their shape.
- Fill and Top:
Carefully remove cones from molds. Fill each with the seasoned beef, then top with a blend of cheddar and mozzarella.
- Melt the Cheese:
Place filled cones back on the baking sheet. Bake for 5–8 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Add Bacon and Serve:
Sprinkle crispy bacon on top. Drizzle with ketchup or burger sauce and serve with extra sauce on the side.
Variations:
- Add diced pickles, jalapeños, or caramelized onions inside for added flavor.
- Substitute ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter or vegetarian version.
- Use spicy cheese blends or flavored ketchup for a bold twist.
Tips:
- Be sure to press the tots firmly when shaping the cones to help them hold their form.
- If making ahead, prep the cones and beef separately, then fill and bake just before serving for best texture.
- Serve these on a platter with toothpicks and extra sauce for easy sharing.
