Instructions:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until nearly crisp, about 6–8 minutes.
- Brush both sides of the bacon with BBQ sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, flipping once, until glossy and caramelized. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- Toast the sandwich buns—either in a skillet with a bit of butter or under the broiler—until golden and slightly crisp.
- If using cheese, place a slice on the bottom half of each bun and broil for 1–2 minutes until melted and bubbly.
- Assemble the sandwich: Start with the melted cheese (if using), then layer on 3 slices of BBQ bacon, 2 slices of tomato, a generous handful of shredded lettuce, and a drizzle of ranch dressing.
- Cap with the top bun and serve immediately.
- Optional: serve with a side of extra ranch or BBQ sauce for dipping.
Variations :
- Swap the cheddar for pepper jack or smoked gouda for a different flavor profile.
- Add avocado slices or a fried egg for extra richness.
- Replace shredded lettuce with arugula or spinach for a peppery or earthy note.
- Use spicy BBQ sauce or chipotle ranch if you prefer some heat.
Tips :
- For extra crispiness, bake the bacon on a wire rack at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes before brushing with BBQ sauce.
- Make sure tomatoes are ripe but firm—too juicy and the sandwich can become soggy.
- Toasting the buns is essential for structure and flavor; don’t skip it.
- Assemble just before serving to keep the lettuce crisp and the buns from getting soggy.
