Bourbon BBQ Meatball Subs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until just combined. Shape into 12 meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear meatballs on all sides until browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer to the baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, until fully cooked.
  4. In a saucepan, warm the bourbon BBQ sauce. Add cooked meatballs and toss to coat.
  5. Split hoagie rolls and lightly toast. Place 3 meatballs inside each roll.
  6. Top with shredded cheese and chopped bacon. Place under the broiler for 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Drizzle with extra bourbon BBQ sauce before serving.

Variations :

  • Swap the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Use pepper jack cheese for extra heat and flavor.
  • Add sautéed onions and peppers inside the rolls for a Philly cheesesteak-inspired twist.

Tips :

  • Don’t overwork the meat mixture—mix just until combined to keep the meatballs tender.
  • Toasting the rolls before filling helps them stay sturdy under the sauce and cheese.
  • If you love smoky flavor, add a splash of liquid smoke or smoked gouda cheese.
