Cheeseburger French Fry Bake

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until beef is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, ketchup, mustard, and sour cream. Mix well.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese.
  5. Arrange frozen French fries in a single layer over the cheese.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the fries are golden and crispy.
  7. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and bake for another 5 minutes until melted.
  8. Garnish with diced pickles and green onions if desired, then serve hot.

Variations:

  • Deluxe Burger Bake: Add cooked bacon crumbles before topping with fries.
  • Tex-Mex Twist: Swap ketchup and mustard for salsa and taco seasoning.
  • Cheese Swap: Try mozzarella, pepper jack, or a mix of cheeses for a different flavor profile.
  • Low-Carb Version: Use roasted cauliflower or zucchini fries instead of potatoes.

Tips:

  • Use crinkle-cut or waffle fries for extra crunch.
  • For a saucier casserole, double the ketchup and sour cream.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving so the layers hold together better.
  • Pair with a crisp side salad or coleslaw for balance.
