Instructions:
- Trim the crusts off the bread slices and use a rolling pin to flatten each piece evenly.
- Lay one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on each flattened bread slice. Roll tightly to form a log, pressing gently to seal the edges.
- Lightly dust each roll with flour to help the coating stick. Dip in beaten egg, then coat evenly with panko breadcrumbs seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat butter and olive oil together in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the rolls in batches, turning frequently until all sides are golden brown and crisp, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate, then sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped parsley while still warm.
- Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce such as honey mustard, ranch, or marinara.
Variations
- Cheese Lovers’ Mix: Combine mozzarella and cheddar for a richer, stretchier filling.
- Spicy Kick: Add a thin slice of jalapeño or a pinch of chili flakes inside each roll before frying.
- Baked Version: For a lighter option, brush the rolls with melted butter and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
- Breakfast Twist: Add a thin layer of scrambled eggs inside for a hearty morning snack.
Tips
- Roll the bread tightly to prevent cheese from oozing out during frying.
- If you prefer extra crunch, double-dip the rolls in egg and panko before frying.
- Keep the oil temperature moderate — too hot, and the outside will brown before the cheese melts.
- For even crispier results, finish the rolls in the oven for about 10 minutes after frying.
- Serve them fresh and warm — that’s when the cheese pull is at its absolute best.
