Macaroni and Cheese Pizza

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 1 minute to form a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens—about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in 1½ cups of the cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  5. Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce, making sure every piece is well coated.
  6. Place the pizza crust on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  7. Spread the mac and cheese mixture evenly across the crust, leaving a small border around the edges.
  8. Sprinkle the top with the remaining ½ cup cheddar and the mozzarella.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is crisp and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with bacon bits or chopped green onions if desired.

Variations :

  • Spicy Mac Pizza: Add a dash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the cheese sauce for heat.
  • BBQ Twist: Drizzle a bit of barbecue sauce over the mac and cheese before baking for a smoky flavor.
  • Four-Cheese Version: Mix in gouda, Monterey Jack, or parmesan for more depth.
  • Veggie Boost: Add sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or roasted tomatoes for extra texture and flavor.

Tips :

  • Cook pasta al dente so it holds up better during baking.
  • Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust base if available.
  • Brush crust edges with garlic butter before baking for added aroma and flavor.
  • Let the pizza rest for a few minutes out of the oven before slicing—it helps the cheese set and makes for cleaner cuts.
