Strawberry Pretzel Salad – Sweet, Salty & Summer-Perfect!

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the crust:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar until well combined. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch glass baking dish to form an even crust.
  2. Bake and cool:
Bake the pretzel crust for 10 minutes, then remove from oven and allow it to cool completely to room temperature.
  3. Make the cream layer:
Beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the whipped topping until fully incorporated. Spread this layer evenly over the cooled pretzel crust, making sure to seal it to the edges to prevent the Jell-O from seeping through. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  4. Prepare the topping:
Dissolve the strawberry Jell-O in 2 cups of boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved, then let it cool to room temperature (but not set). Stir in the sliced fresh strawberries.
  5. Assemble the layers:
Carefully pour the strawberry Jell-O mixture over the cream cheese layer, ensuring even distribution without disturbing the lower layer.
  6. Chill to set:
Refrigerate for 3–4 hours, or until the Jell-O topping is completely set and firm to the touch.

Variations :

  • Berry Twist: Replace strawberries with raspberries and use raspberry Jell-O for a different fruity take.
  • Tropical Style: Try mango or peach Jell-O with fresh fruit to give it a summery island spin.
  • Lighter Version: Use reduced-fat cream cheese and light whipped topping for a lower-calorie dessert.
  • Individual Servings: Assemble in individual parfait cups or mason jars for portable, party-ready portions.

Tips :

  • Seal the cream layer well: Make sure the cream cheese layer fully touches the edges of the dish to keep the crust from getting soggy.
  • Cool everything properly: Allow each layer to cool before proceeding to the next to ensure sharp layers and clean cuts.
  • Use fresh berries: Avoid frozen strawberries, as they release water and can make the Jell-O runny.
  • Cut with care: For perfect slices, dip your knife in hot water and wipe clean between each cut.
