Some believe that these dimples are exclusive to women or linked to fertility, but they can appear in any gender and have no direct correlation with reproductive health.
4. Relation to spine health
Although lumbar dimples themselves do not indicate spine health issues, their location near the sacrum and lumbar vertebrae means that any abnormalities in this area can sometimes be noted during clinical examination of the lower back.

Individuals with well-developed lower back muscles might have more defined lumbar dimples because the muscles create valleys and ridges that accentuate natural indentations. Conversely, those with lower muscle tone or higher fat accumulation in this region may have less visible or absent dimples.
Regular exercise targeting the lower back muscles can slightly enhance the definition of these dimples, but muscle development alone does not create them; their presence depends primarily on the underlying bone structure and skin attachments.
