1. Cruciferous Vegetables
Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, kale — the top vegetable group for liver support.
They contain glucosinolates, plant compounds your body converts into substances that switch on the liver’s own detoxification enzymes. In other words, they don’t “detox” your liver — they help your liver do its own detoxing better, which is the real mechanism the cleanse products only pretend at.
They also deliver fiber, vitamin C, folate, and antioxidants. Animal studies have shown broccoli can help prevent fat buildup in the liver; the human evidence points the same direction.

Getting the most from them: light steaming preserves more of the active compounds than boiling, and chopping them a few minutes before cooking helps the beneficial compounds form. Several servings a week is a sensible target.
2. Fatty Fish
Salmon, sardines, mackerel, trout, herring — all rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation throughout the body.
This one is specifically useful for fatty liver: omega-3s can help lower the amount of fat stored in the liver, and studies in people with fatty liver disease show benefit, especially alongside better eating and regular movement.
Two servings a week is the common recommendation. If you don’t eat fish, walnuts and ground flaxseed provide plant-form omega-3s, though less efficiently.
