1. Tingling or “Pins and Needles”
Many people occasionally experience a brief tingling sensation after sitting in one position.
That is normal.
More persistent tingling, especially if it happens frequently without an obvious reason, deserves attention.
Diabetes is one possible cause, but vitamin deficiencies, back problems, nerve compression, and several other conditions can produce similar symptoms.
2. Numbness in the Feet
Some people notice areas of the feet that feel less sensitive than before.

Others describe walking as though they are wearing thick socks even when barefoot.
Reduced sensation can make it harder to notice cuts, blisters, or injuries.
Because many different conditions can cause numbness, it should be evaluated rather than assumed to be diabetes.
3. Burning Feet
A burning sensation in the feet, particularly at night, is another symptom doctors ask about.
Nerve irritation from diabetes can contribute to this feeling.
However, infections, medication side effects, circulation problems, and other nerve disorders may also be responsible.
